Back to Birmingham National Event, July 14-22, 2007
It will be our privilege to bring the Gospel of Christ to the gates of hell in Birmingham, Alabama, this summer once again. There are two remaining abortion mills in Birmingham, and the saints in this city have asked us to help push what is left of the abortion industry into a deep grave.
We first came to Birmingham in the spring of 1994. Abortionists Tommy Tucker and Bruce Lucero were the heavy hitters of the abortion industry in the south. Both had abortion mills in Birmingham. The Church of Jesus Christ faced these two Goliaths head on in a week long battle called, “Holy Week Passion for Life.” This event was designed to bring the Church of Jesus Christ to the gates of hell and challenge the newly adopted “Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances” (FACE) law.
FACE was specifically crafted by the abortion industry through one Charles Schummer, then a Democratic Congressman from the state of New York, to legislate Christianity and the Christian witness off the streets. With our faces low to the ground, and the Gospel of Christ in our hearts, we purposed to obey God rather than man.
One hundred and eighty-four Christians were arrested that week for kneeling and praying on a public sidewalk in front of the five abortion mills in Birmingham. That’s right! They were not blocking doors, but praying on a public sidewalk. Twenty-two babies were saved and nineteen mothers gave their hearts to Christ.
These gentle Christian warriors were arrested for violating a city ordinance that was designed to keep our black brothers and sisters from congregating on a public sidewalk. According to this unconstitutional ordinance, four or more people could not gather on a public sidewalk to promote any person or cause without a permit - so much for the First Amendment - so much for the Christian witness - so much for our responsibility to love our neighbors as ourselves. Acting like Christians wasn’t going to be allowed in Birmingham, AL.
Birmingham was the focal point of the civil rights marches and sit-ins in the early 60’s. Rev. Martin Luther King’s famous “Letter from the Birmingham Jail” was actually written from the Birmingham jail. One hundred and eighty-four of us were privileged to stay in that very same jail. We were incarcerated outside the actual jail within a fenced in portion (pictured below). There we saw a sign bearing “Bull Connor’s” name, the sheriff that turned the dogs loose and the fire hoses on those standing for the humanity and equality of our black brothers and sisters. It was our date with history.
Saints held in the Birmingham jail where Rev. Martin Luther King wrote his letter. The battle we fight is the same, just a different colored glove. One colored glove: the humanity and equality of our black brothers and sisters. Second colored glove: the humanity and equality of our little brothers and sisters in their mother’s wombs. Both gloves cover the hand of one who has come to rob, kill, and destroy -- the devil! The battle is the same.
VICTORIES WON IN BIRMINGHAM!
Abortionist Tommy Tucker’s abortion mill (pictured below) was closed within a month. During “Holy Week Passion for Life,” Rusty Thomas had prophesied this very thing. Tucker was completely broken and exposed by the IRS. Dave Lackey was given a divine appointment to witness the Gospel of Christ to Mr. Tucker on an airplane flight while flying to our National Event in Orlando in 1998. Mr. Tucker is no longer killing babies. He has not yet given his heart to Christ, but he has not forgotten your witness. Please continue to pray for him.
Abortionist Bruce Lucero moved out of Birmingham and opened Springfield Women’s Diet Center just outside Washington, D.C. He is no longer killing babies. Mr. Lucero was the one who boasted on national TV that he always drove into the abortion mill armed with a weapon. He is also the one who beat several gentle Christian warriors with a tire tool and attempted to kill one pregnant mother with his car.
Note one prominent sign in the picture,
“This Clinic Stays Open.”
That particular clinic, which housed Tommy Tucker, was closed for good three and one half weeks after this picture was taken.
We are asking you to join us July 14-22, 2007 to storm the gates once again in Birmingham, Alabama. Let us beseech God to close the remaining abortion mills in this city so that freedom might truly ring for the innocent in Birmingham and all across the nation.

LETTER FROM A BIRMINGHAM JAIL
Excerpt taken from Dr. King’s letter to the religious community opposing his actions in Birmingham. One can see that the battle never changes, only the arena. We have added the italics to clarify this truth.
“…I must make two honest confessions to you, my Christian and Jewish brothers. First, I must confess that over the past few years I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate (American Church). I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's (pre-born child’s) great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Councilor or the Ku Klux Klanner (abortion industry), but the white moderate (Church), who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro (pre-born child) to wait for a "more convenient season."
Shallow understanding from people of good will is more frustrating than absolute misunderstanding from people of ill will. Lukewarm acceptance is much more bewildering than outright rejection.
I had hoped that the white moderate (Church) would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fan in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress. I had hoped that the white moderate (Church) would understand that the present tension in the South (United States) is a necessary phase of the transition from an obnoxious negative peace, in which the Negro (pre-born child) passively accepted his unjust plight, to a substantive and positive peace, in which all men will respect the dignity and worth of human personality. Actually, we who engage in nonviolent direct action (Christians at the abortion mill) are not the creators of tension. We merely bring to the surface the hidden tension that is already alive. We bring it out in the open, where it can be seen and dealt with. Like a boil that can never be cured so long as it is covered up, but must be opened with all its ugliness to the natural medicines of air and light, injustice must be exposed, with all the tension its exposure creates, to the light of human conscience and the air of national opinion before it can be cured.”

I can't physically stop you. I won't insult you or call you names. I am asking from one human to another human: please stop hurting people. Please.
Jesus was a messenger of peace, as God's son. God's commandment to all: Be fruitful and multiply. If someone slaps you, turn the other cheek. It's one thing to recite God's message from the Bible, one thing to act as Jesus would, but causing violence and hate - that's not what He wanted. Blessed are the peace makers.
If you want to help save babies from abortion, help the poor, scared, helpless mothers first. Help prevent unwanted pregnancies. Help educate children on appropriate sexual behavior before they become adults - it will save them not only unwanted pregnancies, but stop the spread of STDs & AIDS. Be compassionate - these women are in a state of utmost desperation - they have no where else to go. Yelling at them, bombing their doctors, causing violence only begets more violence. Share your wealth - many mothers believe they cannot support a family because they can't afford it. Instead of spending money on a hotel room to pray in front of a clinic, send it to a homeless shelter, to a school, or offer it to a young person for their college fund. Give young, scared, poor kids something to look forward to.
Help spread a culture of peace and love, families are strongest in love. Let your words convince those who will listen. Enlightenment is divine.
Please. Stop the violence. Don't go to battle. Please.
To Miss Crofts,
Why don't you tell the abortionists to stop hurting people? After all, the little boys and girls (gender is determined at conception) are humans, too; and they feel excruciating pain as they are being killed by induced abortion, as do their mothers, as a rule. The baby's pain ends, of course, in death; but the mother's pain, emotionally, can last a lifetime.
The violence and hate you condemn are much more typical of the pro-abortion crowd; after all, every abortion is a savage, premeditated act of violence intended to kill an innocent human being, and as for hatred...if abortion is kindness, or a "service", as you call it, then the term "hatred" has no meaning at all.
Jesus did not say "blessed are the piece-makers", as in people who hack other people to pieces, just because those other people are small and defenseless. Peace, in the biblical sense, embraces wholeness, and that is what we are trying to preserve for the unborn...despite your protestations. So your point here would be...?
Your insinuation that we do not help the mothers is patently false; there are now about three prolife crisis pregnancy resource centers for every one baby killing chamber in the U.S. Prolifer also do a great deal more to PREVENT unplanned pregnancies by providing abstinence-based sex education which,if heeded, not only prevents many "unwanted" pregnancies, but also saves the teenagers and adults who practice chastity a world of heartbreak, and helps to stem the epidemic of STD's -- some of them deadly, all of them damaging. That IS compassion.
"These women are in a state of utmost desperation-they have nowhere else to go." It is true that most abortions are acts of despair coupled with coercion, rather than the acts of free choice they are falsely represented as. And the abortion profiteers, you can bet your Harry Potter collection, do all they can to exploit her sense of desperation to convince her that she has nowhere else to go...which is but one of the many bald-faced LIES fed to women by pro-abortionists. As I just mentioned, there are now approximately three prolife crisis pregnancy resource centers to every one death mill, so she does have other outlets, options, and resources. Abortion is a quick fix, a second-rate, cheap, shoddy and extremely dangerous replacement for the caring assistance available to women in the prolife centers...the help we try to tell them of as they go into the death camp, into harm's way.
Since you are such a bible scholar, I couldn't help thinking of yet another biblical figure as I read your "share the wealth" section. His name was Judas...you remember, don't you, how he descried the wasted wealth given in worship to Jesus, stating how he would have rather seen it spent on the "deserving poor"...When we go to battle for the unborn, it is an act of worship of Him who said, "inasmuch as you have done it for the least of these, you have done it unto ME."
When you set the needs of born children against the unborn, you set up a false dichotomy; the safer we make the world for the unborn, the safer it will be for older children. Did you know that child abuse has increased over 500% since Roe v. Wade, despite the fact that we were promised that legalizing killing unborn children would reduce abuse of born children? This is as false as the "quality of life v. sanctity of life" dichotomy, of which it is a variation. The truth of that dilemma is easily, and more accurately, represented thus: if you think of life as a tree, of which sanctity of life is the root, and quality of life is the fruit, then you have an accurate picture. Don't think so? Just ask any Auschwitz survivor; there are still some around who will, I am sure, set you straight in a heartbeat. Martin Luther King put it another way; "Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere." Even in the womb. Germany had abortion on demand (it was encouraged for Jews, and discouraged for Aryans, of course) for approximately 30 years before Hitler came to power, and the slippery slope ended at Auschwitz...thanks to the Allies. Had it not been for them, I would either not be here at all, (nor you), or we might be corresponding in German. A respect for the sanctity of life is one of the greatest riches anyone can share with anyone else, because it is the basis of an optimally free, just, compassionate, and civilized society...should that sort of thing be of any interest to you.
"Give young, scared, poor kids something to look forward to"...Dear Miss Crofts, that is exactly what we are trying to do!
When we go to the local death camps (or travel cross country, as we sometimes do to visit not-so-local death camps), we recognize the fact that most of the mothers entering the place are young, scared, kids who desperately (your word, remember) need something better to look forward to in their crisis than the lifetime of regret, possible physical injury and debilitation, even death, and definite post-abortion grief...the aftermath of an induced abortion. It's not a reproductive reset button, but a dangerous, violent, invasion of a part of female makeup,(mental, physical, spiritual and emotional)intricately designed by God (remember Him?)to be a sanctuary for nurturing new life, and proven by countless post-abortive women to be extremely unforgiving of shabby treatment. Again, tell it to the abortionists, who, while they know, simply DO NOT CARE about the fact that each child they torture to death in cold blood is a young, scared (if you don't think the child, even in the foetal stage is terrorized by the invasion of his/her prenatal home by the intruments of death, go to silentscream.org and view the evidence to the contrary for yourself; I'm sure you will find it very inspiring) and poor; for there is nothing so poverty so great as rejection by those you need most to protect and care for you, as is appropriate, at any age. You will note that I have not used the term "poor" to describe abortion-bound women/couples. Not yet. I held off on that because while they are lacking in knowledge about abortion, for the most part, lacking in good judgment (it is never good judgment to kill an innocent human being), and lacking in backbone to stand up and protect both themselves and their children from the death industry, and often lacking, themselves, in the support which we would gladly give them over and against the many tactics and ploys of the death industry to deprive them of it, it is mind-boggling how many cars we have seen entering the death chamber parking lots which have wheelrims that cost several times the cost of carrying the baby to term...the rims can be replaced, but the life of any human being cannot be replaced.
So please. Stop YOUR violence against truth and real compassion in action. Put credit where it's due. Please and thank you!
